ReMades – The Lux

October 31, 2012

An exhibition of work by local artists using materials from The LUX renovation process that would have otherwise been lost.

We are wandering the floors and rooms of the massive building that will become “The LUX,”  looking for materials.  Materials to be “ReMade.”  Preserved.  Transformed.  Undone.  Redone.

There is a notable surplus of materials which The LUX is unable to reuse due to codes and requirements of present-day construction. Who in our community might have the ingenuity, abilities and vision to remake these parts and pieces into style, function and beauty, if not our local artists?

Through an extensive and careful process of deconstruction, The LUX seeks to preserve and reuse as many materials as possible from the original building.
